Audi A6 creates a wireless connection in the car

There are a lot of nice things that can be said about Audi’s new A6. The car is absurdly quiet, handles well and has an abundance of power. But the thing that impresses is its wi-fi connection.

It takes only a few moments providing passengers, front and back, with a signal. We saw it demonstrated using an iPad 2.

While other makers like Ford and Toyota are rolling out systems that allow you to check in with particular websites, like Pandora for music or Open Table for restaurant reservation, the A6 allows you to get the entire Web. When you’re running around town on business and have work that involves more than using a smartphone, there is no substitute.

Of course, Audi’s system also means having to balance a laptop or iPad on your lap. But at least in theory, it’s a far easier way to connect than having to drag out an air card.
